Befriender Volunteer (London)

Many of the men we support experience isolation, low confidence, and barriers to engaging with community life. As a befriender volunteer, you’ll build a consistent, trust based relationship that encourages social connection, helps set and pursue personal goals, and supports wellbeing and independence.

About Our Service... Hestia is the largest provider of support to survivors of modern slavery in England and Wales. We offer safe houses across London and Kent, and support workers across the whole of London to help survivors get the support they need.

We support survivors of modern slavery and their children by helping them identify, understand and meet their emotional and practical needs. These needs may include a safe place to live, basics like clean clothes or money to buy food, as well as longer term support to address their trauma.

We also work with survivors to build up their confidence. This can help them engage more with their community and get involved with activities that they enjoy and give them purpose.

In the last year, 2,839 survivors of modern slavery were supported by Hestia to recover from the trauma of exploitation.
